About The Group

The Innovation in Delirium Special Interest Group (SIG) seeks to support a focused forum on innovation in delirium, bringing together individuals and organizations wishing to advance innovative ideas and approaches to delirium. In doing so, the Innovation in Delirium SIG will build communities with a shared desire to connect and collaborate on innovation, linking innovative efforts across the education, biology of healthy aging and health systems spectrum. Ultimately, this SIG will enhance the innovation ecosystem in the delirium world - within the American Delirium Society (ADS) and globally with other professional societies that are interested in pushing the boundaries of innovation in the delirium field.

What is Delirium

Delirium is a state of acute confusion that develops over the course of hours to days and is caused by medical conditions, psychoactive substances, or some combination of these. A person with delirium will have difficulty paying attention, thinking clearly, and remembering information. They may also have a hard time recognizing loved ones, understanding their surroundings, or communicating with others, including letting others know what they need.
